LOUISVILLE, KY – September 6, 2018 – Today, Next Step Network and Clayton released a new white paper – Shedding the Stigma: The Value of Manufactured Homes – that highlights the benefits of leveraging expanded use of manufactured homes for home buyers and communities. The paper addresses the common stigma associated with manufactured homes, and impact of more readily available affordable, sustainable housing in communities.

“Manufactured housing is too often overlooked as a way to help address the increasing cost of homeownership for hardworking individuals and families,” said Stacey Epperson, president and founder of Next Step and co-author of the paper. “We hope local leaders, housing and community advocates can overcome the stigma and recognize the positive impact manufactured homes can generate for cities and neighborhoods.”

The white paper focuses on some of the key aspects of manufactured homes that make them an attractive housing option for homeowners and communities at large. As communities across the country face shortages of affordable housing options, manufactured housing offers an energy-efficient solution that is both less expensive for housing developers and individuals home buyers. Increased affordable homeownership opportunities allows for families to provide housing stability for their children and build and keep wealth.
