LOUISVILLE, KY – February 28, 2023 – On February 27, Destinie Hammond joined Next Step as its new communications manager responsible for managing internal and external communication initiatives and increasing brand visibility as the organization works to put sustainable homeownership within reach of everyone, while transforming the manufactured housing industry through consumer education, affordability and energy-efficiency.

“Next Step is ramping up the dissemination of our educational resources and leaning further into our role as a thought leader in the affordable homeownership space,” said Stacey Epperson, president and founder of Next Step. “Destinie’s experience will help us accomplish this and ensure that we’re reaching those who can benefit most from Next Step’s programs and services.”

Destinie has worked in communications and marketing strategy development for nonprofits, corporations, and startups for nearly a decade. Prior to Next Step, Destinie helped to improve transportation equity and mobility first in New Orleans, where she helped launch New Orleans’ first bikeshare program, and then in North America as the communications manager for the North American Bikeshare & Scootershare Association (NABSA). Earlier in her career, she was fortunate to be able to combine her education in Mass Communications with her love of animals while serving as the Digital Media Coordinator at the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

Destinie is passionate about animals, traveling, and the outdoors, and spends most of her free time engaged in one of these activities. She is a founding board member for Blue Krewe – the nonprofit organization responsible for operating the Blue Bikes bikeshare program in New Orleans.
